Are our streets safer for children going to and from schools?

  1. Bus stops are safer; it’s a good step forward.
  2. I see some improvement in some areas but more effort is needed.
  3. Who is kidding who? Spend the money and fix the safety issues — lack of sidewalks, lack of bike paths, lack of street lights and school hours that put kids on the streets in the dark.
  4. This is not a new issue and it’s not one government is ever going to be able to totally fix.
  5. Other.

I grew up in St Louis, the city.

Our streets had curbs. the sidewalks were wide and above street level as opposed to below on the bottoms of the drainage ditches.

Here, we fudge on the cost at the expense of the kids.

The problem is simple. You don't have half asleep children being forced out of bed way to early to wander around streets & roads at night. Busing issues? Change the school hours? Anything but this mess we have now.
