Should the city of Cape Coral remove the Chiquita Lock?

  1. Yes, the project has been in the works for years and the environmental permissions are in hand. Move forward.
  2. Maybe. I’d like to see the critics’ concerns publically addressed first.
  3. No. The device serves an environmental need and protects water quality.
  4. I’m not sure, I haven’t followed this issue.

It probably lessens the aggressive tidal flows as well as freshwater sheet flow but due to the many rips above the lock, removal effects would probably/scientifically be minimal. Slowing boat traffic by the existing lock is definitely a plus for the environment.
