Will extended bar hours draw you to the South Cape?

  1. Yes, a 3 a.m. closing is an Entertainment District draw.
  2. Yes, I work the night shift and it gives me the option to go out after work.
  3. Maybe, if I’m planning a late night.
  4. The South Cape is already my destination of choice.
  5. Not likely.
  6. No.
  7. The added hour on weekends will keep me away.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. --Ronald Reagan (1986)

FYI - The rest of SWFL is growing in leaps & bounds with new hotels, health care facilities, schools, theme restaurants, etc & Cape Coral can't even manage a cardboard boat regatta! The tax payers of those cities aren't having to pay a dime for these benefits & will be reaping in the cash. In Cape Coral, the taxpayers are having to fork over $158,000 just to permit more drinking at 3 bars in the CRA district. What's wrong with this picture??? Take a bow Mayor & council! Once again, you are behind the 8 ball. Time to prioritize what is best for the future growth of Cape Coral. Put your "special interest groups" on the back burner & work with what we have. i.e. Seven Islands.

Let's face it folks, Cape Coral is going to require a lot more than 1 extra hour of drinking at dive bars in order to attract tourists. Just look at Ft. Myers & Ft. Myers Beach. They are adding real attractions such as Dave & Busters in Bell Towers (15 year lease) & a new Fort Myers Beach Resort with 254 rooms. That is what attracts tourist, NOT unruly drunks. This is a prime example of a City knowing what it is doing, versus a City looking to be "Hip". Just think of the tax dollars both of those venues will generate. Cape Coral is too busy worrying about extending bar hours & The Bimini Basin. We are missing out on so much!!!
