Which part of the Second Amendment are they proposing? The part that says, "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed," or the part that says, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State?" Given that the necessity of a well kept militia is the antecedent must be required before the conclusive statement to bear arms, is the council suggesting that we need a well kept militia? If that is so, then who are we protecting ourselves against?
What a waste of taxpayer money. We have a police department that is at war with criminals who do not have our best intentions at heart. We have high unemployment, and no real business plan that encourages real economic growth so everyone can thrive in this community. Focus on things that actually benefit our residents, and let's stop focusing on political platitudes.

As an additional thought, what if a member of council voted against reaffirming any amendment in the constitution. Would s/he thus be in violation of the oath taken when inducted into office? Given that the oath says, "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, protect, and defend the Constitution and Government of the United States and of the State of Florida; that I am duly qualified to hold office under the Constitution of the State," is there a suggestion that we not affirm a portion of our constitution? What is the purpose here?
