March 22, 2020
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Lee Health is asking those who can to take part in a blood drive today.

"We are still in desperate need of blood due to the cancellations of nearly 30 blood drives," a release issued Sunday morning states. "This has cost Lee Health about 900 units of blood that our patients need. As a reminder, Florida's Southern Gulf Chapter of the American Red Cross is allowing us to host a drive at their office this weekend."

The mobile blood bus will be in the parking lot, details are below:

American Red Cross, South Florida Region, Florida's Southern Gulf Chapter

Lee Health also provided coronavirus morning update:

The health system currently has six COVID-19 patients isolated in its hospitals.

The health system has submitted a total of 748 specimens for testing, and has a total of 11 presumptive positives since March 6. This is Lee Health's count and doesn't include the total number of positive cases in the community. The Florida Department of Health is reporting out the total count on their dashboard.

The health system has 66 employees quarantined at home, none have tested positive for COVID-19. To date, employee quarantines have not disrupted hospital operations.

Lee TeleHealth had 156 virtual visits Saturday.
