First Baptist hands Mariner boy third basketball loss

Boys basketball

First Baptist 80, Mariner 75: First Baptist (13-5) handed the Tritons just their third loss of the season (12-3).

Cypress Lake 71, Ida Baker 60: The Panthers (6-10, 1-1 District 5A-11) pulled an upset of the Bulldogs (8-10, 3-2). Ida Baker is right to back at it Friday at North Fort Myers.

Bishop Verot 78, Clewiston 30: Denzel Redd scored 27 points and had 7 rebounds for the Vikings (8-7). Israel Torres scored 16 points and Andreas Mantz added 13 for Bishop Verot, which plays at home Friday against Island Coast.

Girls basketball

Oasis 47, SW Florida Christian 37: Isabelle Mitchell led the Sharks with 13 points and five steals. Dana Esteve had eight points and six rebounds for Oasis (7-7), which has its third game in four nights on Friday, at home against Canterbury.

Boys soccer

Island Coast 3, North Fort Myers 2: The Gators (3-10-2) improved to 1-3-1 in District 5A-11, while the Red Knights left their home field 2-14-1, 0-3.

Mariner 5, Riverdale 0: Leo Perez scored twice and had an assist, Mathias Arias, Esteban Orjuela and Seanpaul Negron each had a goal, Jason Arias had two assists, and Negron had an assist. Mariner (17-4-1) is at Immokalee on Jan. 23.

Bonita Springs 4, Oasis 2: Josiah Roos scored for the Sharks (2-10-1). Next is a trip to Neumann on Jan. 21.

Girls soccer

Oasis 7, Bonita Springs 0: Mackenzie Moreno scored twice to lead the Sharks (8-4). Oasis plays at Neumann on Jan. 21.

Mariner 2, Riverdale 1: The Tritons improved to 9-5-1 with Thursday's victory. Brooke Yount led the way for Mariner, which is home Tuesday against Ida Baker.
