Cape Coral girls cruise to 51-12 win over Riverdale

The Seahawks had three players score in double figures as Cape Coral downed Riverdale, 51-12, Monday evening in girls basketball.

Sierra Moore had 14 points, 8 rebounds and four assists; Yarily Pacheco scored 13 points and had 7 rebounds; and Haley Lang scored 11 and added 5 rebounds for the Seahawks.

Cape Coral, now 2-2, was set to take on Ida Baker at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Monday

Girls basketball

Bishop Verot 58, Oasis 42: Isabelle Mitchell had 13 points and 5 rebounds for the Sharks, and Gabrielle Goldberg added 8 points and three steals. Oasis is 2-2, 0-1 District 3A-7, while Bishop Verot is 2-2, 1-0.

Boys basketball

Bishop Verot 62, Oasis 45: Israel Torres poured in 30 points and had 8 rebounds to lead Bishop Verot. Denzel Redd scored 19 points for the Vikings along with 8 rebounds. Andres Mantz pulled down 14 boards. It was the season opener for both teams, and a District 3A-8 game as well.

Girls soccer

Mariner 6, Clewiston 1: Sarah Paddock scored twice and had an assist, and Brooke Yount also scored twice for the Tritons (4-1). Sarah Hall and Victoria Annarumma also scored for Mariner, and Destiny Gunby, Gloria Quintanilla and Lela McIntyre contributed assists.

Riverdale 2, Cape Coral 1: Cape fell to 0-5 with a defeat at the hands of 5-1 Riverdale.

Evangelical Christian 6, Oasis 1: The Sharks (3-1) suffered their first loss of the season in a non-district match.

Boys soccer

Cape Coral 2, Riverdale 1: Juan Parra scored twice for Cape Coral, with Austin Ferguson and Lucas Rosales having an assist each. The Seahawks are 5-1-1 after Monday's victory.

Gateway Charter 1, Island Coast 1: The Gators are 1-3-1 after earning a draw against the Griffins.

Tuesday, Nov. 26

Boys basketball

Gulf Coast 63, Mariner 52: A 23-9 Gulf Coast fourth quarter spoiled the season opener for the Tritons and new coach Ryan Hercek. Mariner led 43-40 through three periods. Next up for Mariner is a game at Evangelical Christian on Dec. 3.

Bradenton Christian 81, North Fort Myers 36: The Red Knights dropped their season opener in Bradenton. On Dec. 3, North travels to Riverdale.

LaBelle 66, Island Coast 56: A strong second half (40-33) wasn't enough to make up for slow start for the Gators (0-1). Island Coast's next game is Dec. 5 at South Fort Myers.
