Soccer, basketball seasons under way

The high school boys and girls soccer and basketball seasons have begun across Lee County. Look for weekly action to pick up as the seasons move along from the opening weeks.


Girls basketball

Oasis 39, Canterbury 27: Aliyah Wilson scored 10 points as the Sharks won their season opener. Next up is a home game Wednesday against Lemon Bay.

Boys soccer

SW Florida Christian 2, Oasis 1: The loss leaves the Sharks 1-2, while lifting SFCA to 2-1. Oasis plays at Evangelical Christian on Friday.


Boys soccer

Charlotte 3, Ida Baker 2; Lemon Bay 3, Ida Baker 0: The Bulldogs dropped two games in the Beef O'Brady Challenge in Punta Gorda on Saturday. The two losses left Ida Baker 0-5 on the season. Ida Baker plays Tuesday at South Fort Myers.


Girls soccer

Ida Baker 2, Cape Coral 1: The Bulldogs (1-2) gained their first victory while dropping Cape Coral to 0-3. Ida Baker is home to South Fort Myers on Tuesday, while the Seahawks travel to North Fort Myers the same night.

Boys soccer

Mariner 4, North Port 0: Leo Perez had his second hat trick in as many matches for the Tritons (2-0), with Esteban Orjuela also scoring. Jason Arias, Eddie Reyes and Ignacio Velardez made assists. Mariner faces Island Coast on Tuesday.

Cape Coral 8, Ida Baker 0: The Seahawks are 2-0-1 and Bulldogs 0-3 after Friday's win. Cape will be home against North Fort Myers on Tuesday, while Ida Baker plays in the Beef O'Brady's tournament Saturday at Charlotte High.

Lemon Bay 2, Mariner 0: The Tritons fall to 1-1 after Friday's road loss. Mariner has its home opener Tuesday against Island Coast.

Oasis 11, Moore Haven 0: The Sharks' defense did not allow a single shot on goal Thursday as Oasis rolled over the Terriers. Jillian Rhode scored three Oasis goals, Ariana Sanchez had two goals and an assist, and Ariana Wilson also scored twice. Malorie Morano and Mackenzie Morano each had a goal and an assist. Oasis (2-0-0) travels to Southwest Florida Christian Monday.

East Lee County 8, Island Coast 0: The Gators are 0-2 going into Tuesday's match at Mariner.

North Fort Myers 2, Fort Myers 1: Taylor Metzger and Emilee Hauser scored for the Red Knights (2-0), with assists coming from Michelle Horan and Alexandria Spiller.

Boys soccer

Oasis 3, Moore Haven 1: The Sharks evened their mark at 1-1 going into a contest Monday at Southwest Florida Christian.

Riverdale 2, Ida Baker 1: Details not available.

Fort Myers 3, North Fort Myers 2: The Red Knights (0-2) led 2-1 at halftime.

Canterbury 5, Bishop Verot 1: The Vikings slipped to 0-2, 0-1 in District 3A-8. Next up is a match Tuesday at Charlotte.
