Harpist to perform at St. Columbkille Catholic Church on Aug. 26

Harpist Alexandrea Renee will perform Monday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m., in Iona Hall, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 12171 Iona Road, Fort Myers. She will perform music selections from "Phantom of the Opera," "Pie Jesu," Pachelbel's "Canon in D," Bach's "Prelude in C" and more.

Alexandria has over 10 years of classical training and performance experience in harp, and is a skilled vocalist and pianist. She brings passion and professionalism to each of her performances and prides herself in creating a beautiful and memorable experience.

All are welcome and a free will offering will be taken.

Pine Island United Methodist Church to host Red, White and Blue Sunday to honor first responders

Pine Island United Methodist Church will be hosting a Red, White and Blue Sunday honoring island first responders, Sunday, Sept. 8. The public is invited.

Those to be recognized include law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, health professionals and CERT members (current and retired.)

The event will feature brunch at 10 a.m. followed by the service of recognition at 11 a.m.

Pine Island United Methodist Church is located at the intersection of Pine Island Road and Stringfellow Road, across from Fire Station #1.

One Way Out to hold Purple Tie Ball Sept. 18

One Way Out has announced its fundraising event, the Purple Tie Ball, to be held from 6-11 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at The Club at Pelican Preserve, 9802 Pelican Preserve Blvd., in Fort Myers.

One Way Out invites the community to help its ministry of reaching women in rough places, brushing them off in love, and introducing them to a real life with Christ by supporting its signature fundraising event through sponsorship and attendance.

The event will include a live and silent auction, dinner and entertainment by Carla Del Villagio, a Barbara Streisand tribute artist .

One Way Out Ministries is 501c3 nonprofit, multi-faceted ministry started by Jeanie Turner in 2000. The Christ-centered organization helps troubled women overcome abuse and addiction and put their lives back together through a year-long program with safe houses in Fort Myers and Cape Coral.

The Second Chance upscale resale shop at 12873 S. Cleveland Ave. offers a chance to shop, donate and volunteer. One Way Out is funded entirely by proceeds from the store, private donors and fundraising.
