Rhythm in Motion dance studio to host open house Saturday

By KATE EGAN ( , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The Rhythm in Motion Dance Academy moved to a new location in Cape Coral two years ago. But according to owner, Michaela Poole, most people haven't realized the studio has found a new home.

So, Poole is hosting an open house to change that.

"The new location is hard to see from the road," she said. "We want to show people we're still here."

The open house is this Saturday, from 5-8 p.m., at 912 Del Prado Blvd., South. The free event will feature performances, demonstrations and drawings.

"We are making it a community event," Poole said. "We're more than a ballroom dance studio. A lot of people come in and say, 'Oh, I didn't know you offered this.' It's our way of saying, 'We are here and this is what we offer.'"

Unless it rains, Poole is also planning on having an outside cookout. She plans to serve bratwurst, sausages and hot dogs.

"Come in and mingle and get something to drink," she said.

The performance will include a "little bit of everything" -- ballroom dancing, Latin dancing, belly dancing, a hula show and a lyrical piece.

A line dancing demonstration is planned as well.

"We'll take the audience and try to show them a dance," Poole said. "Something easy to show people they can dance no matter what."

The drawing prizes consist of a weekend stay on Fort Myers Beach, local massages and a couple of giveaways for one free lesson and a couple of four different group classes.

Poole said the goal is to show the public that the studio is here for the community.

"We are really involved in the community," she said. "We do a lot of charity events and fundraisers. We want to be more than just a dance studio. That's what we're trying to portray here."

Rhythm in Motion offers a variety of different dances and Poole also wants to let people know that even if they don't dance, they can still come to the open house and hang out and mingle.

"We are supposed to be a place where the community can come and rent a space and do something or join us and do stuff with us," she said.

Poole said most area studios only offer ballroom dancing and maybe salsa.

"We're really versatile," she said. "We want to show there are different things to do."

Rhythm in Motion offers one-on-one classes and group classes in all areas of ballroom, social and Latin dance, both American and international styles, and a variety of other dance specialties.

Poole also wants to let the community know that anyone can dance.

"We have people who say, 'Oh, we can't dance.' Then they see how easy it is when you break it down."
