Grand opening for new Cape Dunkin' June 15

The new Dunkin' in Cape Coral at 58 Nicholas Parkway will hold a grand opening event Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The grand opening is open to the public. As part of the celebration, Sarah Cabrera, who is trying to collect 18,000 pounds of food in celebration of her 18th birthday, will be on hand and anyone attending the grand opening who brings three canned goods items to donate will receive a complimentary small iced coffee and a chance to spin the Dunkin' prize wheel. Prizes include Dunkin' Frisbees, beach balls, bumper stickers and more.

In addition to the announcement about the grand opening in the Cape, today, June 7, is National Donut Day and Dunkin' is offering one free classic donut with the purchase of any beverage.

Big Lots opening new Fort Myers location today

Big Lots is celebrating the grand opening of its Fort Myers store in its new location today, June 7. This store will reflect a new format, which is part of a broader initiative to reposition the brand as a community retailer offering trustworthy value and friendly service. As part of the celebration, Big Lots will host a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. today. The first 50 shoppers entering the store on June 7 and June 8 will receive a reusable shopping bag filled with tasty treats from Big Lots.

In addition, the company will kick off donation program benefiting Partners for Breast Cancer Care, Inc., which funds breast care for uninsured, low-income residents in Southwest Florida at no cost to them with the goal of ruling out or diagnosing breast cancer for those who otherwise cannot afford it. Big Lots will donate $5 to the local charitable organization each time a BIG Rewards loyalty member redeems a reward at the Fort Myers store over a six-week period (June 7- July 20).

The new store, located at 15271 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33908, will be a showcase for the continued roll out of a new store layout and design across all Big Lots stores, both in new builds as well as in redesigns at existing locations. Big Lots will host local dignitaries, representatives from Partners for Breast Cancer Care, Inc. and other community guests at the ribbon cutting.

Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association adds Arthrex supervisor

The newest member of the Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association Board of Directors brings energy and years of experience. The addition of Michael Koszewnik, manufacturing trainer supervisor at Arthrex, furthers the association's commitment to connect Southwest Florida manufacturers with vital information and educational resources.

Koszewnik began his manufacturing career in 1974, when he embarked on a 17-year run in aerospace. He started as an operator but was quickly promoted to supervisor, and he also taught classes at Pinellas Technical College in Clearwater. Later, he began teaching full-time at the college.

Koszewnik will help the SRMA plan events like the Establishing Metrics Roundtable Discussion on Wednesday, June 19, from 8-9:30 a.m. ,at Career Source Southwest Florida on 4150 Ford Street Extension in Fort Myers. Sanibel Captiva Community Bank opens William Jenkins Memorial Fund

A memorial fund for William "Willie" Jenkins, the Fort Myers teen who died shark fishing off the Sanibel Causeway, has been established at Sanibel Captiva Community Bank by the staff of Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, where both of William's parents are employed.

Donations can be made at any Sanibel Captiva Community Bank location to the William Jenkins Memorial Fund. After the bank made a corporate contribution to the memorial fund a number of bank employees decided to challenge colleagues to match the bank's donation through individual donations. Those efforts have resulted in nearly $1,500 contributed to the memorial fund by the bank and its employees. Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre has promised to match every donation, dollar for dollar.

Nominations sought for Uncommon Friends Foundation's Business Ethics Award

The Uncommon Friends Foundation has opened nominations for its 2019 Business Ethics Award that are due by Sept. 1. Businesses in Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Hendry and Glades counties who consistently demonstrate a system-wide commitment to high ethical business practices are eligible.
