Lee BIA Builders Care raises record $90,000 at 10th annual BBQ, Bands & Brew

Lee BIA Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association, netted a record $90,000 at its 10th annual BBQ, Bands & Brew event.

Thousands of food- and music-loving guests attended BBQ, Bands & Brew, which was held Sunday, April 7, at Centennial Park in Fort Myers. Proceeds support Lee BIA Builders Care's mission of providing emergency construction services at no cost to needy and deserving elderly and/or disabled homeowners, and their families, who cannot obtain repairs through traditional means.

A panel of celebrity judges awarded Jonesez BBQ with the coveted title of "Best BBQ in Town" for the second consecutive year. Additional category winners include: Best Chicken: Big Smoke BBQ, Best Pork: Dave's Bangin' BBQ, Best Ribs: Jonesez BBQ, Best Dessert: Norman Love Confections, Best Side Dish: Dave's Bangin' BBQ, Best Presentation: Big Smoke BBQ and People's Choice: Jonesez BBQ.

Chasing Dallas, The Echo, Deb & The Dynamics and Bite the Bullet were this year's featured entertainers.

Builders Care is the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association. The mission of Lee BIA Builders Care is to provide emergency construction services at no cost to needy and deserving elderly and/or disabled homeowners, and their families, who cannot obtain repairs through traditional means. To date, Lee BIA Builders Care has put more than $4.5 million in construction services back into the community at no cost to homeowners in need. Builders Care enlists the volunteer services of Lee BIA members and leverages grants and donated materials to provide construction and remodeling services to qualified homeowners throughout Lee County. Diplomat Wesleyan Church selects architect for design improvements

Diplomat Wesleyan Church in Cape Coral has selected Art Castellanos, AIA, NCARB of Castellanos + Tramonte Architects, to oversee design improvements. The newly remodeled space will include the addition of a porte cochre and updated entrance to accommodate the church's growing attendance. Additional office space will also be incorporated into the design along with parking and landscape improvements.

Founded 31 years ago, the Cape Coral-based church offers children's ministry, youth group, adult bible study and global missions.

Led by partners Art Castellanos, AIA, NCARB and Jason Tramonte, AIA, Castlellanos + Tramonte Architects specializes in multi-family, hospitality, amenity, commercial, government, educational and faith-based design.

Royal Palm Coast Realtor Association to host seminar for small businesses interested in owning retail, office and restaurant space

The Royal Palm Coast Realtor Association will host a breakfast seminar on May 1 offering valuable insight to small businesses interested in commercial building ownership.

The seminar will cover Southwest Florida's dynamic commercial real estate market and feature local experts from a variety of fields who have helped small business owners transition from leasing to buying. Commercial opportunities include the purchase of vacant land, freestanding buildings, warehouses and multi-unit facilities in a variety of locations and square footages.

Speakers and topics at the May 1 session include: Annette Barbaccia, Miloff Aubuchon Realty Group, and Ron Welebny, Commercial Realty Associates of Southwest Florida: industrial, office and retail properties; David Dale, Owen-Ames-Kimball: remodeling and renovating small business properties; Brian Chapman, Chapman Insurance Group: small business property insurance; Ned Hale, Hale Law Services: small business property legal issues; Michael Deluca, HBK CPAs & Consultants: accounting and tax ramifications for small business owners buying property; and William Wilson, Florida First Capital Finance Corporation: financing options for the purchase of small business property

Neal Communities introduces new discovery center during community event

Neal Communities, a Southwest Florida's private homebuilder, is hosting a grand opening event Sunday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., to introduce its new discovery center at Verandah, a 1,456-acre, gated, golf course neighborhood located on the banks of the Orange River in Fort Myers.
