Monday

Baseball

Ida Baker 8, Riverdale 2: The Bulldogs broke open a 2-all tie with six runs in bottom of the sixth inning. Ida Baker improved to 10-6 while dropping Riverdale to 10-8. The Bulldogs have a District 6A-11 game at North Fort Myers on Tuesday.

Mariner 9, Lehigh 1: Alex Freeland homered and doubled, part of a 3-for-4 night with three RBI and three runs scored for Mariner (17-2). Gavin Walker also homered and had two RBI. Jimmy Meredith (2-for-3), Barron Northorp and Anthony Bautista had an RBI each. Dominick Cotoni allowed one run in four innings for the win, with Matthew Morales working three scoreless. The Tritons (8-0 district) get back into District 6A-11 competition Tuesday at Cypress Lake.

Bishop Verot 13, Gateway Charter 1 (six innings): Austin Orme went 3-for-3 with a homer and a double, driving in four runs, stealing two bases and scoring three times for the Vikings (11-8, 5-2 District 4A-5). Michael McAloose also homered and doubled with three RBI, while Austin Pflieger homered and drove in two runs. Kellie Grau held Gateway Charter (13-9, 2-3) to one unearned run over five innings for the win.

Softball

Bishop Verot 3, Moore Haven 2: Sara Belof's two-out, two-run double was the big blow of the game as the Vikings (9-10) rallied to defeat the Terriers. Audrey Mills and Ashley Smallwood had two hits each. Trinity Vallee was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts. Bishop Verot plays at Gulf Coast on Wednesday.

Mariner 10, Lehigh 2 (five innings): The Tritons (15-7) got two RBI each from Laila Jones, Hannah Holloway and Erin Pratt. Holloway and Delicia Bent had three hits each. Holloway went the distance, striking out eight while allowing three hits and no walks. The Tritons (9-1 district) have a District 6A-11 game Tuesday at Cypress Lake.

Tennis

Island Coast High School junior Lucy Hartlieb and sophomore Denver Boxleitner beat Austin Wilcox and Kalynda Bailey of LaBelle 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles in the district tournament at Three Oaks. They lost 6-1, 6-0 to Cape Coral in the next round. Hartlieb and Boxleitner had the team's lone win.

Saturday

Track and field

District 2A-12: Bishop Verot and Oasis had athletes qualify for regionals with their performances in the district meet in Immokalee. The Vikings had district champions in Lauren Mills (girls 800 meters), Mackenzie Thomas (girls 1600), the girls 4x400 relay (Analise Lewis, Ella Samac, Samantha Muller, Lauren Mills) , girls 4x800 (Hailey Albrecht, Lauren Mills, Mackenzie Thomas, Jessica Bedoya), and girls pole vault (Maci Hart).

The Region 2A-3 meet is April 27 at Cypress Creek in Wesley Chapel.

Mariner signing day: Eight Tritons athletes will sign their national letters of intent Wednesday in the school's auditorium. The event begins at 12:15 p.m. Here are the students, with their sports and college choices:

Barron Northorp, baseball, Andrews College; Christian Minto, wrestling, North Iowa Area Community College; Gracia Rojas, cross country, track and field, Morningside College; Nikola Salopek, soccer, Jacksonville University; Marvin Avilez, soccer, St. Thomas University; John Aguirre, soccer, St. Mary-of-the-Woods College; Victor Wright, football, Macalester College; and Justyn Cordones, football, Southeastern University.

Baseball

Cypress Lake 7, Cape Coral 6: The Panthers (8-11, 3-7 District 6A-11) edged the Seahawks (6-11, 2-6) to earn a split with Cape Coral this season.

Port Charlotte 9, North Fort Myers 1: The Pirates (12-5, 8-2 District 6A-11) completed a two-game sweep of the Red Knights (3-13, 0-8).

Softball

Cape Coral 10, Cypress Lake 0 (6 innings): Big rallies in the first and sixth innings lifted the Seahawks (9-7, 4-6 District 6A-11) past Cypress Lake (9-8-1, 5-4). The two teams split a pair of games this week.

Ida Baker 19, Island Coast 16: Andrea Walker and Abigail Gonzalez had four RBI each as the Bulldogs completed a two-game sweep of the Gators. Walker was 3-for-3 and scored four runs. Gonzalez (2-for-4) scored twice. Kayla Ramos scored three Ida Baker (2-13, 3-7) District 6A-11) runs. For Island Coast (0-17, 0-10), Natalie Sibert was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Georgia Johnson and Jayleen Ferrer each scored three times. Madisyn Watson had two RBI. The Gators are home for a district game Tuesday with Cape Coral, while Ida Baker has a district game Tuesday at North Fort Myers.

North Fort Myers 6, Port Charlotte: It's down to North and Mariner for the top seed in the District 6A-11 tournament after the Red Knights finished a season sweep of Port Charlotte. Mariner and North Fort Myers split two games this season, each team's only district loss. North has two district games remaining, both against Ida Baker. The Red Knights play the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Mariner (14-7, 9-1) has two district match-ups with Cypress Lake starting Tuesday. For The Red Knights on Friday, Sarah Giompalo was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Alexis Morris added two RBI for North Fort Myers (11-8, 9-1). Sydney Morris held the Pirates (8-8, 6-5) to three hits and two runs (one earned) with 10 strikeouts and one walk.

Thursday

Baseball

Ida Baker 5, Island Coast 3: The Bulldogs (10-6, 4-4 District 6A-11) won at Island Coast (11-5, 5-3). For the Gators, Kasey Ross went 3-for-4, including a double.
