Support funding for Cape Environmental Education Center

April 5, 2019
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife would like to see an environmental education center in the city.

Sirenia Vista Park, in the northwest Cape off Ceitus Parkway, would be a perfect location. Manatees, ospreys, purple martins, live at the park, which borders the mangroves. Fisherman and kayakers love the area.

This would be a $2 million project. We are hopeful that the state will allocate the money so the city of Cape Coral to build it. Please support the $650,000 request in to the Florida Legislature to cover the expense of the building and the necessary utilities.

The total cost of the project would be $2 million. Please call Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto at 239-338-2570 or email her at benacquisto.lizbeth.web@flsenate.gov . You should ask if this request was put into the Senate Budget Bill. (Bill #4301(2019). If not, ask her to include it in the appropriations bill and if it has been approved, request that she support it. This money is already earmarked in a Florida House Bill. The second thing to do is ask Gov. DeSantis to support this bill. Please call the Governor's Office at 850-488-7146 or email him at 411Assist@dms.myflorida and reference Bill #4301(2019)
