Baseball

Oasis 8, Imagine Schools North Port 6: The Sharks (5-3, 1-2) earned their first District 4A-5 win with a home victory against North Port. Oasis spotted Imagine a 6-1 lead, then roared back for the win. Steven Salamida (1-2) pitched a complete game for Oasis, blanking Imagine over the last four innings. Salamida also gave his team the lead with a two-out RBI single. Anthony Catella also came through with two hits, driving in two with a single. Kevin Leal had four hits. The two schools face off again on Friday in North Port.

Mariner 7, Grayson 5: In a battle of top teams from neighboring states, the Tritons (14-1) downed Loganville (Ga.) Grayson (15-6). Mariner scored six times in the bottom of the fifth to erase a 5-0 Rams' lead. Grayson will try its luck against Island Coast (10-2) on Thursday. District 6A-11 leader Mariner faces Cape Coral at home on Friday.

North Port 12, North Fort Myers 2: North Port raised its record to 11-4, dropping the Red Knights to 3-7. North is home Friday against Fort Myers.

Softball

Mariner 3, Lemon Bay 2: Delicia Bent had two hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs for the Tritons (11-7). Hannah Holloway went the distance for the pitching victory, allowing one earned run and striking out eight Manta Rays. Mariner carries an 8-1 District 6A-11 into Thursday's home game against Cape Coral.

Girls Tennis

Ida Baker 7, Island Coast 0: Singles -- Lucy Hartlieb (IC) lost 6-2, 6-1; Denver Boxleitner (IC) lost 6-1, 6-0; Isabelle Jobe (IC) lost 6-0, 6-1; Renata Molfino (IC) lost 6-0, 6-1; Zoei Labree (IC) lost 6-1, 6-0. Doubles -- Hartlieb/Boxleitner (IC) lost 8-1; Jobe/Molfino (IC) lost 8-0. Island Coast record: 3-8

Baseball

Mariner 5, Cape Coral 2: Mariner broke open a 2-all game in the sixth inning and went on for the win. Jimmy Meredith went 3-for-4, scored twice runs and had an RBI for the Tritons. Alex Freeland had two RBI for Mariner (13-1, 7-0 District 6A-11). Cape slipped to 4-9, 1-4. Allen Guerrero and Jason Slater were both 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Seahawks. Louis Alberro pitched 5 2/3 innings for Mariner for the win, with Xzavien Torres finishing for the save.

Port Charlotte 7, Island Coast 2: The Gators (10-2, 4-1) suffered their first District 6A-11 defeat of the season. Port Charlotte im-proved to 9-5, 5-2.

Ida Baker 8, Cypress Lake 5: Nick Richir ripped a two-run homer for the Bulldogs (7-5, 2-3 District 6A-11). Trey Koza had two hits and two RBIs, and Mac Moise and Jarred Pinto each doubled and had an RBI. All five Cypress Lake (7-5, 2-5) runs were unearned. The teams meet again Friday at Ida Baker.

Softball

Mariner 11, Cape Coral 0 (five innings): The Tritons scored seven times in the fifth to put the game away. Mariner is 5-1 in District 6A-11 after rolling past its arch rival. The Tritons (10-7 overall) got triples and three RBI each from Georgia Waddell and Alexis Baker, while Hannah Holloway (3-for-4 with a triple) and Jamie Jarvis had two RBI each. Delicia Bent was 3-for-4 and scored twice, Holloway got the pitching win, holding Cape to one hit and striking out five.

Cypress Lake 19, Ida Baker 18: A seven-rally in the seventh inning wasn't quite enough for Ida Baker (1-11, 0-2 District 6A-11). Cypress Lake scored two in the bottom of the seventh to improve to 6-7-1, 3-4.

Port Charlotte 15, Island Coast 2 (5 innings): The Gators slipped to 0-15, 0-7 in District 6A-11. Island Coast is home against the Pirates on Friday.
