Baseball

Mariner 3, Heritage, TN 0: Dominick Cotoni held Heritage to three hits in four scoreless innings, and had an RBI for the Tritons (5-0). Louis Alberro was 3-for-3 with a run, and Jaylen Youngs and Jimmy Meredith each drove in a run. Matthew Morales earned a save.

Softball

Science Hill, TN 15, Bishop Verot 0: Science Hill jumped out to an 11-0 lead and held off the Vikings. Alexis Hollingsworth, Ashley Smallwood, Courtney Teeter and Trinity Vallee each had two hits for Verot (3-6).

Baseball

Cape Coral 8, Ida Baker 7: The Seahawks (3-4, 1-2 District 6A-11) scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ashton Hillard drove in three runs for Cape Coral, with Daniel Barcena, Daniel Ramirez, Lucas Carr and Danny Alvarez also driving in runs. Thomas Cramer got the win with a scoreless seventh inning. Ida Baker (4-3, 0-1) will host Cape in a rematch Thursday.

Island Coast 2, Lehigh 1: Milt Cuyler's two-run walkoff double lifted the Gators (6-0) past Lehigh. Jordan Dence got the win with three innings of scoreless relief work, striking out five. Mason Schweizer had two hits for Island Coast, including a double.

Mariner 3, Port Charlotte 2: Louis Alberro went the distance for the Tritons, allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Alberro also doubled and drove in two of Mariner's three runs. Gavin Walker also had an RBI. The Tritons improved to 4-0, 3-0 in District 6A-11, while dropping Port Charlotte to 5-2, 3-1. Mariner plays Maryville (TN) Heritage on Wednesday.

Cypress Lake 4, North Fort Myers 0: The Red Knights dropped to 2-4, 0-3 in District 6A-11. North will seek revenge on the Panthers on Thursday at Cypress Lake.

Bishop Verot 14, Oasis 0 (five innings): The Vikings dominated their District 4A-5 foes behind a 5-for-5, five-RBI, two-run performance from Daniel Blitz. Matt Johnston, Austin Orme and Michael McAloose drove in two runs each for Bishop Verot. Kevin RisCassi, Andrew Pflieger and Matt Powell also drove in runs. Scott Edward stole four bases. Joseph Hobson gave up one hit in four innings with seven strikeouts for the victory. Verot is 4-1, 3-0, while the Sharks are 3-1, 0-1.

Softball

Mariner 7, Port Charlotte 2: Hannah Holloway struck out 12, holding Port Charlotte to three hits and one earned run. She also went 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI, and a run scored. Laila Jones was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Kennedy Burnham, Georgia Waddell, Alayna Martin and Delicia Bent also drove in runs for Mariner. Jamie Jarvis was 2-for-4. The Tritons (6-2, 4-0 District 6A-11) travel to Port Charlotte on Thursday.

Bishop Verot 17, Imagine School North Port 1: Audrey Mills led visiting Bishop Verot with a home run and four RBI. McKenzie Woods and Ashley Smallwood contributed four RBI each. The Vikings improved to 3-5, 3-0 in District 4A-5. Verot is home Wednesday against Johnson City (TN) Science Hill.

Lehigh 29, Island Coast 10 (five innings): Marlin Hinjosa drove in five runs to lead Lehigh. The Gators (0-9) face Johnson Hill (TN) Science Hill on Thursday.

Oasis 16, Gateway Charter 1: The Sharks (1-5, 1-0) won their District 4A-5 opener at Gateway. Oasis is off until March 27, when they are home against the Griffins.

North Fort Myers 15, Cypress Lake 0 (3 innings): Sarah Giompalo had six RBI for the Red Knights, including an inside-the-park grand slam. Alexis Morris had a two-run inside-the-park homer, and Lacy Garlick had two RBI. Sydney Morris (2-0) gave up one hit and struck six in three innings, and also drove in two runs. North is 5-2, 3-1 in District 6A-11, dropping Cypress Lake to 4-5-1, 2-1.

Mariner 4, South Fort Myers 3: Singles - Cydney Rentsch (M) 6-0, 6-0; Kara Perchall (M) 6-3, 6-1; Jennifer Martinez (M) 6-0, 6-0; Ellie McCarter (S) 6-4, 6-1; Kaab Khang (M) by forfeit. Doubles - Suko-vich/Aguilar (S) 8-6; Can-non/McCarter (S) 8-0.
