Florida Highway Patrol Troopers continue to investigate a hit-and-run traffic crash that occurred Feb. 24, 2019, at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Beau Drive, 1/10 of a mile south of Hancock Bridge Road in North Fort Myers. According to the FHP, pedestrian Patrick John Santiago, 37, of North Fort Myers, was walking in the vicinity of the Beau Drive west sidewalk when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. Santiago sustained injuries and was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital. On Feb. 25, Santiago was pronounced deceased.

Troopers are requesting assistance from the public. There was a 2012-2016 Cadillac Escalade, white in color, that departed from the RaceTrac Gas Station west exit onto Beau Drive around the time of the crash. At this time, the Cadillac driver is a potential witness; therefore, troopers are searching to locate the Cadillac and interview the driver.

If anyone has information regarding this crash or the hit and run vehicle, please contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800 or Crimestoppers.
