Cape Alliance Church's Annual Community Yard Sale EXTRAVAGANZA Saturday

Looking for a fun, family friendly spring event? This Saturday, March 2, the Cape Alliance Church, located at 4307 Skyline Blvd., in Cape Coral, is hosting its Annual Community Yard Sale EXTRAVAGANZA! This year's event will include a large yard sale, with families from all over the surrounding neighborhoods, as well as some small entrepreneurial vendors.

Cape Alliance will also have a free bounce house for the kids, cotton candy and as always, its famous popcorn machine will be popping away!

There will be items for sale for children and adults, toys and trinkets, clothing and collectibles, furniture and fantastic finds with treasures galore. Come on out, have some fun, find a bargain and meet some new friends!

Cape Alliance Church sponsors this event to serve and bless the people in its neighborhood as well as the Cape Coral community at large.

Women's retreat 'Be Still and Know' March 23 at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church

The 11th annual women's retreat entitled "Be Still and Know" will be held Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, 4118 Coronado Blvd., in Cape Coral.

Women of all ages, faiths and levels in their spiritual journey are invited to this one-day event, and welcomed to hear inspirational speakers and their stories of redemption and recovery through their personal faith. Music will provide an important worship element. The day will include small group discussions, listening and sharing with others, continental breakfast, lunch, gift bags and retreat materials for the registration fee of $20 per person. Free child care will be provided.

This event is hosted by the United Methodist Women of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, the proceeds of which will benefit their work in missions.

Gulf Coast Church of Christ's Huge Annual Garage Sale this weekend

A Huge Annual Church Garage Sale will be held Friday, March 1, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, March 2, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Gulf Coast Church of Christ, 9550 Six Mile Cypress Parkway, Fort Myers. The sale will feature furniture, clothes, tools, household goods, books, bikes, jewelry, children/ baby items and much miscellaneous. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.

Mission Community Church to hold first service Sunday at FMHS

Mission Community Church will hold its first service Sunday, March 3, at 10 a.m., at Fort Myers High School, 2635 Cortez Blvd., Fort Myers, 33901.

The pastor of the new church, Jordan Roe, and his wife, Bethany, have come to Southwest Florida from the Nashville, Tenn., area where they were serving as a part of a team of pastors for the past 11 years. For the past 8 years, they were campus pastors in Spring Hill, Tenn.

According to the church's website, www.mymissioncc.com, the Roes say the new church will be Gospel-centered and "fully integrated with the greater Body of Christ in Lee County."

And their mission "simple to see people transformed by Jesus."

St. Katharine Drexel to host 'Faith in Numbers 5K Run/Walk'

St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church invites the public to participate in "Faith in Numbers 5K Run/Walk" a celebration of unity and solidarity among our Southwest Florida faith communities.

In light of the recent attack on the Jewish Synagogue in Pittsburgh, the church is moved to unify the faith community in Southwest Florida, and invites all neighboring faith communities to join with the desire and commitment to heal and live in mutual respect and harmony.

The Faith in Numbers 5K Run/Walk will take place Saturday, March 2, at 7 a.m., at Jaycee Park, 4215 S.E. 20th Place, Cape Coral.

The run/walk will be supported by the city, with official time keeping and advertised and sponsored by supporting businesses to keep the cost of registration at a minimal to encourage families, youth groups, and serious runners to participate.

Memory Makers Big Band to perform at Pine Island United Methodist Church March 17

The Memory Makers Big Band will once again present an afternoon of music from the Big Band era at Pine Island United Methodist Church Sunday, March 17. The public is invited to enjoy an afternoon of music with Ray North and his friends in the ensemble.

The Memory Makers' Facebook page describes the band as, "We play the classic sounds of the wonderful big bands of the 30's, 40's and the 50's..."

Cake and ice cream will be served at 2 p.m. and the music begins at 2:30 p.m. The tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door. Local missions will benefit.

Pine Island United Methodist Church is at 5701 Pine Island Road (across from the Fire Station, just west of The Center).

Church of God of Prophecy chicken dinner March 9

The Church of God of Prophecy, 15146 Stringfellow Road in Bokeelia, is holding its fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, corn or green beans, bread, dessert and coffee or iced tea. Open to the public, the dinner will be held Saturday, March 9, from 1-5 p.m. Full dinner $8.
