Women in Business to highlight small business development at March 6 networking event

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce's Women in Business Committee will offer valuable insight on growing successful small businesses during its March 6 networking meeting.

Welcoming representatives from the Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University, the March Women in Business program will highlight the many services and resources available to area businesses at no cost through the FSBDC, including techniques and strategies for growing a business, resources for those looking to start a business, and training on business topics ranging from the basics to more advanced management skills.

Speakers include FSBDC director Lois Knox, assistant director Suzanne Specht, marketing director LaShaun Collier, and consultant Andrea Robinson.

The networking event will be held from 4-6 p.m., on March 6 at Brunch Bar & Patio within Miromar Outlets, with La Bamba providing the food. The event is hosted and sponsored by Miromar Outlets, located at 10801 Corkscrew Road in Estero.

Passenger traffic increases in January at Southwest Florida International Airport

During January, 1,050,093 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, an increase of 8.7 percent compared to January 2018.

The traffic leader in January was Delta Air Lines with 190,395 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Southwest (180,711), American (133,274) Frontier (126,059) and Spirit (126,033).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 9,338 aircraft operations, an increase of 1 percent compared to January 2018. Page Field saw 9,320 operations, a 10.5 percent increase from January 2018. In addition, slightly more than 2.8 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in January 2018.

Elite RV & Boat Storage to open in south Lee County

Elite RV & Boat Storage will open today, March 1, in south Lee County, offering covered and fully enclosed units in a premier facility conveniently located between Naples and Fort Myers.The new facility emphasizes security and safety. RVs and boats will be protected through state-of-the-art video surveillance with a motion detection system, a gated entry, fire protection system and an on-site caretaker and property manager.
