Lee County Parks & Rec summer camp sign-ups to begin Monday

February 22, 2019
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Registration starts at 8 a.m., Monday, Feb. 25, for Lee County Parks & Recreation Summer Camp, which is expected to draw thousands of youngsters to programs, outings and activities at the department's traditional camps, teen camps and specialty camps.

Please note, this is a change in registration time from previous years.

Parents are encouraged to sign up early. Each year, the allotted spaces at Wa-Ke Hatchee, Lakes Park and Estero Recreation Center fill up well before school ends. Camp registration is ongoing as long as space is available. Registration for swimming lessons and other aquatics programs begins Tuesday, April 2. Summer camp runs for eight weeks from June 10 through Aug. 2.

In past years, registration opened online at 12:01 a.m.

Here's a tip from the registration desk: If you plan to register for camp at one of the four large recreation centers, you need to obtain a membership first. This applies to the centers at Wa-Ke Hatchee, Estero, North Fort Myers or Veterans Park in Lehigh Acres. A second tip is that a household account at is needed if you want to register online.

All campers will receive a specially designed Lee County Parks & Recreation t-shirt. Camp sites will participate in countywide initiatives, such as service learning projects, fitness and wellness programs, and National Park and Recreation Month. The 2019 theme for the National Recreation and Park Association is "Game On" and encourages the importance of play for all ages.
