Cape Coral Lions Club annual poker tournament called a success

February 22, 2019
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

On Saturday, Feb. 9, the Cape Coral Lions Club held its second annual Texas Hold'Em Poker Tournament. The event was a tremendous success! All proceeds will help to fund the club's on-going charitable work in the community where it assists those with vision, hearing and diabetic challenges.

Many guests attended just for the buffet dinner catered by the Terrace Hall staff and stayed for the 50/50 drawing and the silent auction. Cape Coral area businesses came together and donated many items for the silent auction, which attracted a number of bids contributing to the funds raised.

The poker players had an enjoyable time at the tables. In the end, three players claimed the top prizes.

The Cape Coral Lions Club, an all-volunteer organization, provides preschool vision and hearing screenings free of charge. Lions collect eyeglasses, and recycles and distributes them to needy people all over the world. They work closely with the Southwest Florida Council of the Blind, recently providing "sighted elves" to help those with vision loss do their Christmas shopping.

The Lions Club meets every first and third Thursday of the month (September through May) at 5 p.m. at the Perkins Restaurant at 1502 Cape Coral Parkway in South Cape.

Visitors are always welcome.
