Time for an elected city manager?

February 7, 2019
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

Is it time for residents in the City of Cape Coral to be able to vote for a city manager?

Our present city manager, Mr. Szerlag, wasted more than $1 million dollars on trying to get a contract with LCEC and the City Council and Mayor had no problem with this. Instead, they gave him a raise; it is only the taxpayers' money they are dealing with.

So if they don't want to fire him, don't you think it's about time the residents have a say in who we want to handle the finances in this city?

We should be able to vote him out of office. Put his name on the ballot and let the people have a voice in who we want and how to spend our tax dollars.

If he was working in the real world and wasted that kind of money he would be gone, not given a raise.

Hope the residents wake up in this city and see what is going on in city hall.
