Lee County Community Band concert Sunday

Treat yourself to an afternoon of romance, big band nostalgia, and upbeat favorites Sunday, Feb. 10, as Lee County Community Band presents "Music, the Language of Love." The concert is set for 3 p.m. at Cape Coral High School.

Under the direction of Richard Bradstreet, the band will perform a medley of romantic Gershwin tunes, highlights from "Carousel" and a tribute to Duke Ellington. The program also will feature lively marches, a sing-along, and a presentation of "Make the World Go Away" by vocalist Norman Jones.

The band performs six concerts between November and April; all take place at Cape Coral High School, 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd., beginning at 3 p.m.

The concerts are free (donations accepted) and open to the public.

Additional concert dates are March 10, and April 7.

An legend in Southwest Florida, the 50-member adult band is comprised of musicians from all walks of life - career musicians, amateurs, and folks renewing skills from years past. The band welcomes new members every year. Persons interested in joining may phone John Fenn at 239-454-6430.
