Seahawk girls rout Bulldogs, 76-18, in district basketball tourney

Alexa Poposki scored 18 points and Sierra Moore had 16 for Cape Coral as the Seahawks downed Ida Baker, 76-18, Monday night.

The second-seeded Seahawks (19-7) roared into Wednesday's semifinals of the District 7A-10 tournament, where they will be at home against third seed Port Charlotte.

The Bulldogs finished the year 2-21.

Port Charlotte 41, Island Coast 24: The Pirates (15-10) advanced at the expense of the Gators, who ended their season at 11-15. Either Port Charlotte or Cape Coral will wrap up a playoff berth with a victory Wednesday.

Lemon Bay 44, North Fort Myers 35: The Manta Rays ended the Red Knights' season at 11-14. Lemon Bay (12-10) travels to face top seed Charlotte in Wednesday's semifinals.

Boys basketball

North Fort Myers 66, East Lee County 45: The Red Knights improved to 4-17 with a road victory against the Jaguars (5-17). Caden Chisholm fired in 27 points to lead the Red Knights, and Jeffrey Krumm scored 18. Both returned Monday after missing time with injuries. North Fort Myers is home against Estero on Wednesday.

Cypress Lake 72, Island Coast 55: Island Coast slipped to 2-21, while Cypress Lake edged upward to 7-15. The Gators have a home game Wednesday against Dunbar.

Lehigh 79, Bishop Verot 57: Israel Torres scored 20 points and Andrew Shepherd 11 in a losing effort for the Vikings (13-10). Lehigh improved to 16-7. Bishop Verot plays Tuesday at South Fort Myers.
