Helping Kids with Cancer Radiothon Friday

The 17th annual Helping Kids with Cancer Radiothon will be held Friday, Jan. 11, and feature on-air appeals by pediatric cancer patients, medical professionals and celebrity guests.

The Radiothon benefits Barbara's Friends Goli-sano Children's Hospital Cancer Fund. Barbara's Friends is named in honor of Barbara Haskell, who marveled at the bravery of children battling cancer as she was undergoing breast cancer treatment. Haskell died in 1995 at age 32.

The Radiothon airs live from Mel's Diner, 4820 S. Cleveland Ave., in Fort Myers, on Cat Country 107.1 FM, as well as and on the iHeart Radio app, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 11. Periodic updates and announcements from the Radiothon will also be shared on 95.3 FM OLZ.

During the 12-hour Radiothon, guests at all five Mel's Diner locations in Southwest Florida Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Golden Gate and Naples can enjoy a special breakfast for a $5 donation.
