When individuals or organizations write out a check to ECHO, they are confident the money is going to be used efficiently and for what it is meant to be used for.

Last week, ECHO was awarded the highest rating for Charity Navigator (four stars) for the eighth consecutive year, a rare feat.

"Only 4 percent of the charities we evaluate have received at least eight consecutive four-star evaluations, indicating that ECHO outperforms most other charities in America." said Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator, in a statement.

Charity Navigator is an independent rater of charities to help donors give to organizations that demonstrate transparency and accountability.

Danielle Flood, ECHO spokesperson, said donors deserve to have faith in where they invest their money.

"We believe we do it with the upmost trustworthiness and our mission is something people can depend on," Flood said. "We register 990s every year with the government. We are accountable to share financial information upon request and we keep costs low by working with partner organizations and by educating."

Flood said it's part of ECHO's entire mission that lends itself to being economical with a huge impact. The fact it is seen from the outside as being a good investment for donors annually is something Flood said she is excited about.

"It's very exciting. They also look for outcomes and impact and see if we are meeting our goals in training and researching around the world," Flood said. "ECHO believes it's key to ending poverty and hunger."
