Boys basketball

Bishop Verot 78, Flushing (NY) Townsend Harris 40: The Vikings (6-4) rolled to the championship of the Jim Dilg Classic in Queens, New York, thumping Townsend Harris (2-5) in the final. Denzel Redd led the way with 20 points, and Andrew Mantz added 15 points for Bishop Verot. The Vikings' next game is Jan. 3 at home against Gateway Charter.

North Fort Myers 69, Cypress Lake 65: Junior guard Jeffrey Krumm scored 14 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Red Knights (3-8) past Cypress Lake (5-5) in a consolation game of the Southwest Florida Sunshine Showdown at North Fort Myers High. North faces Barron Collier at 3:30 Saturday in the fifth-place game.

Fort Myers and Immokalee will meet for the tournament championship at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Other games Saturday: Cypress Lake vs. Miami Somerset Silver Palms at 2 p.m.; and Palmetto Ridge vs. Dunbar at 5 p.m.

Oasis 81, South Fort Myers 53: In the Ryon D. Provencher Holiday Shootout at Lemon Bay High School, five Sharks scored in double figures in the win over 0-8 South Fort Myers. Taylon Hutchins led the way with a double-double of 20 points and 12 assists for Oasis (9-2), with Vladimir Dorlys had 17 points and five rebounds, Kyle Bethel scored 15 points, Kylar Frias scored 12, and Dsean Archilles had 10 points and six rebounds. Oasis was scheduled to face Winter Park (5-5) at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Provencher Shootout.

Boys soccer

Mariner goes for Mike Stone title: The Tritons (14-0-3) were set to play Orlando Evans at 11 a.m. Saturday for the championship of the Mike Stone Invitational in Tavares. Alex Franco scored all four goals for Mariner in a 4-1 victory against Orlando Dr. Phillips in Friday night's tournament semifinals. Leo Perez, Pedro Reyes and Ignacio Velardez contributed assists. In the second round Friday at Hickory Point, Anthony Rodriguez scored two goals, Esteban Orjuela and Reyes had a goal each, and Perez made three assists.

Girls basketball

St. Cloud 58, Cape Coral 38: In the opening round of the College of Central Florida Holiday Tournament, the Seahawks fell to 8-3 at the hands of an 11-2 St. Cloud squad. Saturday, Cape Coral plays Tarpon Springs (7-4), which lost to Mayo Lafayette on Friday.

Bishop Verot 74, Queens (NY) Renaissance 28: In the opening round of the Jim Dilg Classic in New York, the Vikings (5-4) got 17 points from Andreas Mantz, 11 from Andrew Shepherd and 12 from Israel Torres to roll to victory. Bishop Verot faces either Flushing (NY) Townsend Harris or host school Elmhurst (NY) Cathedral Prep in the championship game Friday.

Boys soccer

Mariner 4, Apopka 0: In The Mike Stone Invitational in Tavares, Esteban Orjuela scored four goals, all unassisted, to lead the Tritons to an opening-round win. Mariner (12-0-3) next faces Titusville, which needed double overtime to down Kissimmee Osceola, in Friday's second round.
