All-County Band Concert tonight at North Fort Myers High

Area’s top middle and high school musicians to perform

December 7, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The top middle and high school band musicians the Lee County School District has to offer will come together for a special concert today, Friday, Dec. 7. Members had to audition and only a select few were actually chosen.

The All-County Band Concert is an opportunity for the top musicians throughout the county to experience music making in a large ensemble setting with other student musicians from around the county. It is also a chance for these top-tier student musicians to work with a professional director other than their own.

David Plack, Director of Bands at Florida State University, will lead the high school band. His responsibilities include the "world renowned" Marching Chiefs and FSU's athletic pep band program, Seminole Sound, which primarily supports basketball, volleyball and the University at large.

The middle school All-County band will be directed by guest conductor Jeff Cayer of Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Tampa. Cayer has had the honor of conducting many All-County Bands and the Florida All-State Band in 2016.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of North Fort Myers High School, 5000 Orange Grove Blvd., in North Fort Myers.

Tickets are not required. The concert is free to attend.
