Officials to host Lee County Community Conversations

November 30, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The Lee County Department of Human and Veteran Services is holding a series of public meetings throughout the county, including on-island, to gather feedback on various community issues.

The Lee County Community Conversa-tions events provide an opportunity for people to share their opinions and offer suggestions on how to solve issues, like homelessness, affordable housing, housing discrimination, poverty and more.

The meetings are open to the public; participation in encouraged.

All input will be considered in the development of the 2019-2023 Consolidated Plan, 2019 Annual Action Plan, 2019 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice and 2019-2021 Community Services Block Grant Strategic Plan.

According to Lee County's website, the Consolidated Plan covers a five-year period and provides strategies to address housing, homeless and community development needs.

Funds are used for public service and infrastructure projects and programs administered by government, non-profit and private agencies, including the city of Bonita Springs, city of Sanibel and the Town of Fort Myers Beach.

An Annual Action Plan is done for each of the five years to detail projects to meet the goals.
