Villanueva director of wellness for Juniper Village at Cape Coral

Juniper Communities has announced that Dawne Villanueva, LPN, is the new director of wellness at Juniper Village at Cape Coral. Born in Fort Myers, she is a lifelong Southwest Florida resident and business owner. After several career changes including American Airlines flight attendant and owner of Ron's Barber Shop & Salon, she decided to return to school to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a nurse.

As director of wellness, Villanueva will oversee the clinical and medical programs for the assisted living residents and ensure that Juniper's high standards of care are met. She will also ensure that applicable laws and regulations are being adhered to at all times.

Villanueva attended Bishop Verot High School and Edison State College; and received her nursing degree from Fort Myers Institute of Technology. She grew up in a family of six, and now has her own family of six.

Cape Animal Shelter, Fathoms to host Yappy Hour Nov. 23

The Cape Coral Animal Shelter and Fathom's Restaurant will host their monthly Yappy Hour Friday, Nov. 23, from 5-7 p.m. This is an opportunity for pets and their owners to begin the holidays and enjoy an evening of outdoor entertainment. To commemorate the evening, photos of pets with Santa will be available courtesy of Al Larson Photography for a minimal donation for the shelter.

Fathom's Restaurant and Bar will be providing beer and wine as a fundraiser for the nonprofit organization to receive all proceeds. CCAS merchandise will be available for sale and a 50/50 raffle will be held during the evening. Attendees at the evening festivities will also enjoy live music.

Yappy Hour is an ongoing event held the last Friday each month. Each month will have a different theme to be enjoyed by attendees with their pets.
