Cape Coral Police responded to Regions Bank located at 1522 Cape Coral Parkway, W., at 10:17 a.m., in reference to a person finding a suspicious item between the night drop and ATM in the drive-through.

ccording to the CCPD, the area was cordoned off, and Cape Coral Parkway and Southwest 48th Terrace was blocked. Investigators viewed video surveillance from Thursday, Nov. 1, around 6:20 p.m., that showed a juvenile on the bank property holding onto a metal pipe from an old sign that was still attached. Investigators speculated that the metal pipe possibly broke from the rest of the sign. The juvenile then brought the pipe over to the drive-through and laid it down before leaving, police said. The pipe had reportedly been at that same location since that time.

The Cape Coral Fire Department and Lee County EMS also responded to the scene. The SWFL Regional Bomb squad responded to the scene to make sure the item was not an explosive device. The item was later, positively determined to be solid metal and not a threat to the public.
