Cape Coral Irish American Club to meet Thursday; Deacy to entertain

The next meeting of the Cape Coral Irish American Club is Thursday, Nov. 1, at the German American Social Club located at 2101 S.W. Pine Island Road. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

The club is open to any persons interested in learning about Irish culture. The guest for the meeting will be Ed Deacy, who will entertain with some wonderful songs and music. He is a singer, actor and retired detective of the New York City Police Department. He sang the National Anthem for many years at Madison Square Garden and Yankee Stadium. He has performed in many plays, musicals, TV shows and movies. He is a vocalist for the Memory Makers in Cape Coral and Fort Myers.

The club offers two scholarships to young students. The students must be involved in an activity which promotes Irish culture. The application may be found on the club website at www.capecoralirishamericanclub.org

All applications must be received by Saturday, Dec. 29.

Mark your calendars for the 15th Annual Irish Festival of Cape Coral set for March 2 & 3 in the Bavarian Gardens of the German American Social Club.
