Ronald John Obuchan, 76, formerly of Dorchester, Massachusetts passed away July 16th at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, after a short struggle with lung cancer.

Ron, as known by his friends, was born in Ansonia, Connecticut the son of the late Peter and Frances (Anderson) Obuchan. He attended elementary and high school in Ansonia. He later graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in English and Education.

He taught school for many years for the Diocese of Boston and later retired from the Chelsea School System, Chelsea, Massacusetts after several years of service.

Ron was a kind and generous person with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed collecting antiques and art glass. He also loved the arts, theater and music, especially opera. He had a vast library of music albums.

He leaves a brother, Peter Obuchan, of Medford, Massachusetts, a cousin Shirley Matejek of Ansonia, Connecticut with whom he was very close and several other cousins.

He also leaves very close friends, Lane and Anna Marie Feldman and Larry and Marsha Whitcraft of Cape Coral, FL and his best friend and companion of many years Will Elia, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

Ron was cremated and his remains will be placed in the Gulf of Mexico at his request.

Friends of Ron would like to thank the Staff at Hope Hospice for the wonderful care he received while there. He will be very much missed, but not forgotten, by all whose lives he touched.
