Lee County Parks & Rec receives FRPA award

September 21, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The Lee County Parks & Recreation Department was recognized with Florida Recreation and Park Association's highest award at a recent state conference. This is the county's first time receiving this honor.

FRPA honored the department with the 2018 Agency Excellence Award in the "Super" category - the only municipality to earn the title - in Orlando on Aug. 29. The Lee Board of County Commissioners recognized Parks & Rec Sept. 18.

Agency Excellence Awards recognize the state's most outstanding recreation agencies for their exemplary commitment in the areas of health, economic development, environmental sustainability and community development. Lee County earned the Super-level distinction for excelling in all four of these areas.

Lee County Parks & Recreation operates more than 31,500 acres of parks, preserves, facilities and other sites.
