Island Coast bowling teams sweep Dunbar

Both of the Island Coast High bowling teams defeated Dunbar Monday at Coral Lanes in Cape Coral to up their season records to 6-1.

The Gators girls' team edged Dunbar, 3-2. Leading the winners were Denver Boxleitner, 137; Taylor Fabrizzi, 112; Patty Smith, 109; and Divine Johnson, 106. For Dunbar, which falls to 0-5 on the season, Iesha McMillon rolled a 140, Olivya Vasquez 117, Elajah Williams 107, Brittney Thornton 100 and Trinity Vasquez 100

In the boys match, Island Coast swept Dunbar, 5-0. Leading the winners was TJ Rucker, with a 257, followed by Mark McCullough, 231; Bryce Davis, 196; Holden Thomas, 141; and Freddy Pearson 127. Beau Higginbotham, 151, led Dunbar (1-4) followed by Charlie Perez,133; Logan Spence, 133; Deven Holden, 130 and Isaiah Thornton, 124.

Volleyball

North Fort Myers 3, Canterbury 2: The Red Knights (10-1) had to hold off a Canterbury (8-2) rally to win in five games, 25-17, 25-11, 16-25, 19-25, 15-13. North Fort Myers plays Tuesday at Charlotte.

Ida Baker 3, Mariner 0: Baker improved to 9-5 with a 25-17, 25-10, 27-25 victory at Mariner (5-6). The Bulldogs are at East Lee County on Friday, while the Tritons travel to Immokalee on Friday.

Port Charlotte 3, Island Coast 0: Port Charlotte (9-3, 3-0 District 7A-10) swept the Gators 25-16, 25-12, 25-15, dropping Island Coast to 0-4, 0-9. The Gators play at Immokalee on Wednesday.

Oasis 3, Lehigh 0: The Sharks (10-3) rolled to a 25-13, 25-13, 25-17 home win against the 0-11 Lightning. Oasis is home Tuesday against Clewiston.

Triton Invitational

at Mariner High School

Cape Coral's Cheyenne Young dominated the girls' field at the 29th Mariner Triton Invitational, with her 18:34.26 more than a full minute ahead of the second-place finisher. The Seahawks' Kelsey Miskimins was eighth individually as Cape Coral came in second as a team to Charlotte. Bishop Verot was third, Ida Baker seventh and North Fort Myers eighth.

On the boys' side, Ida Baker was sixth and Cape Coral eighth in the team standings.

The top local boys individual finisher was Oasis' Preston Dunn, who was fourth overall. Ida Baker's Franklin Caceres was ninth.

Oasis 3, St. John Neumann 1: The Sharks (9-3, 2-2 District 5A-10) dropped the first game but then won three in a row, 21-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-23, for the victory. The Celtics fell to 2-6, 2-3.

Mariner 3, East Lee County 0: In a non-district match, the Tritons swept to a 26-24, 25-10, 25-10 against the Jaguars (5-5). Mariner (5-5, 1-2 District 6A-12) is home Monday against Ida Baker.

Riverdale 3, Island Coast 0: Island Coast is 0-8 after falling 25-9, 25-6, 25-4 to the Raiders (6-2). The Gators are home against Port Charlotte on Monday.

Mariner, Bishop Verot split: The Mariner boys (5-1) were victorious 3-2 against Bishop Verot. The Tritons were led by a high score game from Jayme Kenyon (216) and Tyler Koenigs 176. The Vikings emerged victorious in the girls match 3-2. Mariner (2-4) was led by Ramonna Baker, who had the high score of the game (149).

Island Coast and Riverdale split: The Island Coast boys (5-1) defeated Riverdale (5-1) 4-1 at Lehigh Lanes. Leading the Gators were Tyler Macphee (237), Josh Toston (206), Nick Larsen (200), Mark McCullough (191) and Bryce Davis (135). Jordan Frazier's 214 led the Raiders (5-1). The Gator girls (5-1) fell to the Raiders, 3-2. Leading Island Coast were Taylor Fabrizzi (164), Abby Miller (146) and Denver Boxleitner (144).
