Vote for the environment: Vote Holden, Nelson

August 10, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

There is an environmental catastrophe brewing that will have a devastating effect on Florida's tourism industry: the toxic algae that is flowing into our state's fresh waterways and the red tide bloom in the Gulf of Mexico.

In a misleading attempt to shift the blame for this to Democrats.

A recent television advertisement for Rick Scott states that Washington has done nothing about this problem and that, by implication, Scott will.

Ironically, Scott is criticizing his own party because the Republicans control Washington. As governor, what has Scott done about this problem? Nothing.

Who will to want to visit Southwest Florida to see dead sea life lining our shores and to breathe toxic air?

It is clear that Scott, as well as Francis Rooney and Marco Rubio are not doing their jobs. They must stand up to "big sugar" and the other special interests that are blocking the implementation of a remedy to this problem.

David Holden has a clear vision of how to deal with these issues and Bill Nelson has been an environmental champion for decades. Attend one of Mr. Holden's events and challenge him on his views on our environment. He is non-evasive and clear on how to remedy this problem.

Check out Mr. Nelson's environmental voting record.

Join me in securing our environmental future with a vote for David Holden for Congress and Bill Nelson for Senate.
