Gulf Coast Harmonizers seeking additional members

June 29, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Real men love to sing. That is the mantra of the Gulf Coast Harmonizers barbershop chorus.

Convinced that the joy of male vocal harmony is a desirable pursuit of many men, the Harmonizers are embarking on a summer campaign to get the word out to singers in Lee County regarding this opportunity with an extra emphasis on our Scholarship Program.

With college classes now in recess for the summer, a special invitation is being extended to young singers who are looking for a chance to visit an organization whose members have enjoyed group singing for years. The Harmonizers' scholarship program has been created to assist eligible college students and includes most expenses, such as membership dues and performance costume purchases.

The Harmonizers meet every Monday evening to enjoy each other's company, hone their craft and prepare for upcoming performances.

Vocal warm ups are led by the group's recently appointed director, Jonathan Riviere. His credentials include a music degree as well as a business degree.

A renewed enthusiasm permeates rehearsals as the chorus enjoys its light-hearted workouts, sparked by the director's humorous approach and very skilled musical knowledge.

"It has been a great experience to reunite with the Gulf Coast Harmonizers" said Bob Christie, a long-term former member.

Interested men of all ages are invited to attend a rehearsal - "no strings attached."

The Harmonizers meet on Monday evenings, 6-9 p.m., at Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church, 8260 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers.
