South Cape lane closures under way for pipeline cleaning project

Additional roadways have been added to the road closures due to pipeline cleaning project under way in the South Cape.

Crews began cleaning the stormwater pipe that connects the Rubicon Canal to the Bimini Basin on Monday, a project expected to take two-three weeks.

The following streets will be impacted:

* The outermost eastbound lane of Cape Coral Parkway E. will be closed, from Southeast 5th Avenue to Southeast 5th Place each morning at 9 a.m. This lane will reopen each evening when work for the day concludes. Two eastbound lanes and the westbound lanes of Cape Coral Parkway E. will stay open throughout the project.

* Southeast 47th Terrace will be closed from Southeast 5th Avenue to Southeast 5th Place for the duration of the project.

* Southeast 5th Place from Southeast 47th Terrace to Cape Coral Parkway East will be closed for the duration of the project.

Drivers should follow the detour signs and allow extra travel time as there may be delays. Businesses in the immediate area have been notified of these closures.

The outermost eastbound lane of Cape Coral Parkway East is closed due to a storm water pipeline cleaning project.

The pipe between the Rubicon Canal and Bimini Basin is being cleaned out due to blockage. The lane will be closed each day at 9 a.m. for about two weeks following the peak morning rush hour traffic and will reopen each evening when work for the day is finished. The remaining two eastbound lanes of Cape Coral Parkway will stay open. Drivers should follow marked detours in this project area.

Drivers also are encouraged to allow extra travel time as the project could cause delays.
