North, Johnson dominate Collier in Region 6A-3 softball semifinals

North Fort Myers beat Barron Collier High School, 8-0, Tuesday evening in the Region 6A-3 semifinal softball matchup on the Red Knights' field.

North Fort Myers, now 24-5, had 10 hits total and took advantage of five hits and two timely bunts to score 5 runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Junior Emma Johnson dominated the Cougars from the pitching circle only giving up two hits while striking out eight. Other than the two hits, no ball left the infield.

Offensively, Johnson also set the pace with three hits, including two triples - one in the first inning to start the scoring for the Red Knights, and another in the sixth to plate North's last two runs - and four RBI.

Natavia Ellis also helped lead the Red Knights with two hits and scoring two runs

Sajarie Jones contributed a triple in the sixth, scored two runs and had one RBI.

Haley Weaver had two hits, scored a run and collected one RBI

Alexis Morris knocked in North's other run.

North plays away Friday, May 11, against Lake Wales in the regional final. This is North's 4 regional rival appearance in the last 5 years.
