Bishop Verot 15, Oasis 0 (3 innings): The Vikings had no trouble capturing their 11th straight district championship, beating Oasis in short order at Sam Fleishman Field on Wednesday in Fort Myers.

Coach Pablo Plaza's Vikings (15-9) scored 10 runs in the first inning, two in the second and three in the third to advance into the state Class 4A playoffs.

Bishop Verot will be at home on May 3 for the first round of the state Class 4A playoffs, while the Sharks (10-10) will travel to open the postseason. The opposition for both teams will be decided Thursday in the finals of the District 4A-6 tournament.

"Whoever comes along, we just have to play as a team," Plaza said. "Play as one. Represent Bishop Verot and play. We'll be all right.

"I have confidence in my team and all of my girls."

The senior-dominated Bishop Verot lineup has a wealth of playoff experience, with several players who hoisted a state Class 3A trophy two years ago.

Dana Wherry drove in three runs for Bishop Verot. Jordan Breadmore, Sammie Massaro and Mackenzie Woods hit doubles. Six different Vikings scored twice.

"The first inning we could have scored 21," Plaza said. "I'm not like that. That's not good sportsmanship," explaining why one of his runners stepped off base before the pitch to accept an automatic out.

"We're looking forward to the next round. Whoever comes around, we've just got to play."

It was a rough night defensively for Oasis, which committed seven errors in the game. There were also six walks and three wild pitches, including one which allowed the 15th and final run to score with two outs in the third inning.

North Fort Myers 11, Island Coast 0: Sajarie Jones stole three bases and scored three times and Haley Weaver had two hits, scored three runs, stole three bases and had two RBI to pace the tournament top seed Red Knights (21-5). North Fort Myers will be a home for the district championship game Thursday night against second-seeded Mariner.

Mariner 4, Port Charlotte 0: The Tritons (18-8) earned their spot in the championship game against North behind the seven-strikeout performance of pitcher Hannah Holloway. Holloway held the Pirates to two hits and had two hits of her own. Kennedy Burnam and Yasmine Halaby had RBI. Georgia Waddell and Holloway scored two runs each.
