Deny Gully Creek project

To the editor:

My name is Roy Reeves. My home is located 220 feet south of the proposed Gully Creek RPD. I am writing this letter to voice my opinion about the proposed Residential Planned Development near my home.

I understand that the staff of the Lee County Hearing Examiner has recommended that the Board of County Commissioners approve the project. I find it hard to believe that a county government agency could even consider a proposal that is entirely unsuitable for this area. It would cause many negative impacts for the environment upsetting the natural balance of plants and wildlife, not to mention the flooding that already occurs during our wet season.

I am also concerned about how the noise and traffic that will be created will affect my life. I have experienced it personally with the traffic. A car driving south on Slater Road came around the curve though my fence and ended up against a palm tree; if it had not been for the palm tree 10 feet from my home, the car would have been in my kitchen.

This development is planning its main entrance on this curve. There has been a fatality on this curve where the main entrance is planned to be placed.

There is no right of way for any turn lanes. That is the reason the power poles are located in the ditches.

I enjoy living in a peaceful and quiet area. The request for re-zoning from Agricultural AG-2 to Residential Planned Development for up to 330 single-family, two-family attached, townhouse, or multiple-family residential dwelling units will ruin the area for all of its residents Please do not allow this Residential Planned Development to be built.
