The Cape Coral Sail & Power Squadron has completed extensive repairs and renovation triggered by damage from Hurricane Irma last September. The Squadron building at 917 S.E. 47th Terrace in South Cape lost its roof, heating and cooling system, and suffered considerable other storm damage.

The members took the disaster as an opportunity to not only repair, but to also upgrade their building in many ways.

The local Squadron is the largest by membership in the United States with nearly 600 members. It is non-profit and offers the public courses from basic safe boating to advanced piloting and navigation as well as seminars on individual important boating topics.

Numerous social events are held each year in their nearly 8,400-square-foot building on 47th Terrace in the heart of the entertainment district of Cape Coral.

In support of the its primary mission of promoting boating safety, the Squadron rents its facilities to the public for a variety of activities. The 160-person banquet hall is supported by a large semi-commercial kitchen and is ideal for wedding receptions, family reunions and similar events.

There are also classrooms for groups of between 30 to 60 persons available for either one time or multiple event use. There is parking for hundreds of cars directly behind the building.

With all repairs, as well as many additional upgrades now completed, the Cape Coral Sail & Power Squadron's doors have fully reopened to the community. Inquiries regarding event use can be answered by calling the Squadron office at 239-549-9754 or stopping by between 9 a.m. and noon, Monday through Saturday.
