Cape Coral Daily Breeze

A juried Standard Flower Show, "April in the Garden," will be presented by the Garden Club of Cape Coral and The Potpourri Designers Friday, April 27, from 2:30-4:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The show will be held at the Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library at 921 S.W. 39th Terrace, off Mohawk Parkway, in Cape Coral.

The club invites the public to see how the designers meet the challenge and interpret through flowers the nine classes in the Design Division-Spring Forward a Framed Spatial Design; A Tuneful Frame An Armature Design; April Sunshine A Featured Plant Material Design; Springtime Luncheon - A Functional Table for 2; Springtime - New Beginnings - An Exhibition Table; Refreshing Drink in the Garden - A Tray for One; April Showers - A Petite Underwater Design; April Winds - A Petite Line Design; April Flowers - A Petite Creative Mass.

Several new classes of designs have been added to this show: Freshen Up The Door a grapevine wreath design; Spring Garden Sampler - a collage on a background panel that may be 3D; Invitation to Tea - a 4-inch x 6-inch invitation for a spring luncheon.

There will be exhibits: Surviving the Hurricane What Plants Did Well; Frogs That Hold Flowers; 20 Years of the Garden Club of Cape Coral; Trafalgar Middle School Feeds the Hungry.

Come peruse the submissions in the Horticulture Division that include everything from cut specimens from the garden or landscaping to potted plants.

Gardening in Southwest Florida is a challenge at best and the wide variety of submissions will provide you with a visual guide to what can be planted here and survive under Tropical South conditions. There will be Master Gardeners available for questions.

The show will be judged by a panel of National Garden Club Inc (NGC) accredited/approved judges according to the NGC Standard System.

All are welcome to this delightful display of talent and a peek into the mysteries of successful Florida gardening.
