Season of hope

March 29, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The signs of spring have been subtle again this year.

Winter was mild, the rainy season has made no early entrance and the summer heat is still weeks away.

We're in the best of times here in Southwest Florida - warm, balmy breezes; a re-greening of frost-bitten browns; sweet tea and late afternoon twilight; sizzling steak barbecues and dips in the pool; cold beer, a fishing pole and the excitement of that flash of silver in the Caloosahatchee or Gulf of Mexico.

Spring is also a time of hope, a time of promise for many of us as it marks two holidays of great import to Judeo-Christian theology.

Passover, the most significant of Jewish holidays. begins tonight as those of the faith celebrate Passover's promise of freedom and the mark of slavery's end.

Easter, the most holy of Christian holidays, is Sunday. The faithful worldwide will gather and celebrate its message of rebirth, and of a promise that resonates as clearly today as it did more than 2,000 years ago.

May you and yours have a happy holiday and a spring that heralds only good things to come.
