Lee Physician Group Integrative Medicine specialists now offer hours at the Wellness Center Cape Coral. Heather Auld, M.D., and Teresa Spano, N.D., CNS, Naturopathic Consultant, are available for consults at the Wellness Center. Renee Sarra, A.P., D.O.M., who joined the Integrative Medicine practice last year, offers acupuncture.

Auld is board certified by the American Board of Physician Specialties in Integrative Medicine and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Spano has her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the University of Bridgeport, College of Naturopathic Medicine. She is also the secretary for the Florida Naturo-pathic Physicians Association. Their areas of expertise include chronic disease counseling of: heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, as well as bio-identical hormone replacement therapy for men and women, weight management, stress management, sleep and digestive health.

Sarra is a doctor of oriental medicine. Acupuncture is particularly helpful in acute and chronic pain of all types, as well as chronic disease.

Learn about starting a career in health care Jan. 24

Lee Health is joining Cypress Cove, CareerSource Southwest Florida, FutureMakers Coalition, Fort Myers Technical College and Cape Coral Technical College to hold an informational event for people interested in learning more about a career as a certified nursing assistant or medical assistant. The event is set for Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m., at CareerSource Southwest Florida, 4150 Ford Street Extension, Fort Myers.

Those interested in attending the informational event should come prepared for a short interview with a recruiter. Informa-tion about tuition assistance through CareerSource Southwest Florida and FutureMakers Coalition will also be available for those who qualify. Opportunities may be available at Lee Health or Cypress Cove following training and graduation.

Next Yappy Hour at Fathoms Jan. 26

The Cape Coral Animal Shelter and Fathom's Restaurant will host the next monthly Yappy Hour Friday, Jan. 26, between 5 and 7 p.m. The public is invited to celebrate the upcoming Super Bowl with Super Bark Night while enjoying an evening of outdoor entertainment.

Yappy Hour is an ongoing event held the last Friday each month. This month's theme is a Super Bowl party celebration and guest with their pups are encouraged to join the fun by wearing their favorite team jerseys or colors.

Fathom's Restaurant and Bar will be providing beer and wine for the nonprofit organization to receive all proceeds to help fund the building of a shelter for pets in need. The evening festivities will also have live music provided by the band Blacklash. A variety of vendors will be on display and a 50/50 raffle will be available.

The Cape Coral Animal Shelter is currently raising funds to create a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. The organization is dedicated to engaging a special bond between people and animals by means of adoption services, medical care, education and training for the prevention of cruelty and abandonment. The shelter will provide a safe place where animals will receive the care they need and remain until they are placed in a qualified, forever home. More information on the Shelter can be found at

Garramone Plastic Surgery expanding services

Garramone Plastic Surgery is expanding its aesthetic and cosmetic services to accommodate its rapidly growing patient base in the greater Fort Myers and Cape Coral market.

The practice is responding to this demand in several ways. For the first time, evening hours will be added to the weekday schedule to accommodate those in need of after-hours services and surgical consults. Garramone Plastic Surgery has added a third esthetician to the experienced team. In addition, the practice is bringing on another nurse practitioner who specializes in injectables and laser procedures. To make way for the expansion of its aesthetic services and providers, the practice will close its medical dermatology department at the end of January.
