Bucs earn fifth straight win, pound Victory Rock Prep, 83-41

The No. 12 Florida SouthWestern State College men's basketball team dominated early and often and picked up an 83-41 win over Victory Rock Prep at Suncoast Credit Union Arena Wednesday night.

The Buccaneers, who ranked No. 3 in the recent FCSAA NJCAA Region 8 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll, move to 15-1 on the season and have won five straight.

Freshman Charles Manning Jr. led the Bucs with a game-high 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field. He also added seven boards, six assists, five steals and three blocks.

Freshman Maddox Daniels finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Tyler Cheese added nine points and two steals, while sophomore ShanQuan Hemphill chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Jermar Perkins Jr. registered eight points and five assists and freshman DeShawn Thomas finished with eight points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks.

The Bucs are back in action Friday, Jan. 5 when they host IMG in the second game of a doubleheader with the FSW women's basketball team. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
