Cape Coral senior Harwin Francois (22) was named the Smoothie King Classic’s MVP after the Seahawks beat host school Bradenton Christian 68-65 in the tournament’s championship game Friday night. To view more photos, see our Facebook page.

Coral Springs Charter 64, Mariner 54: The Tritons finished fourth in the Harden Bracket of the Adidas Holiday Slam in Miami. Jahmel Myers of Mariner was selected to the all-tournament team of the Adidas Holiday Slam. Nehemiah Darrett scored 15 points for the Tritons (7-5), while Myers had 10 points, 15 rebounds and five assists. The Tritons face Countryside on Jan. 5 in the Lehigh Lightning New Year's Shootout.

Boys soccer

Mike Stone Invitational: Mariner defeated Palmetto 5-2 on Friday to finish third in the Mike Stone Invitational, Florida's largest high school soccer tournament. Santiago Perez had a hat trick (three goals) for Mariner, and Eddie Reyes and Esteba Orjuela also scored. Pedro Reyes and Leo Perez were named to the all-tournament first team. The Tritons (16-4) won three of four matches in the tournament.

Sunshine Shootout at Gateway Charter

Dunbar 49, North Fort Myers 53: Dunbar (4-5) took the third-place game of the Sunshine Shootout, dropping the Red Knights to 3-8.

Moore Haven 52, Island Coast 42: Moore Haven (6-5) finished seventh in the Sunshine Shootout with a win against the Gators (2-10).

Smoothie King Classic at Bradenton Christian

Cape Coral 68, Bradenton Christian 65: The Seahawks (9-2) won the Smoothie King Classic for the second year in a row, downing host school Bradenton Christian (8-5) in the championship game. Harwin Francois was named the tourmament's Most Valuable Player, and teammate Jonnathan Moreno also was selected to the all-tournament team.

Oasis 66, Braden River 65: The Sharks (9-2) took third place in the Smoothie King tournament in Bradenton with a comeback victory against Braden River. Oasis trailed early 23-11 and by eight at halftime, but rallied for the win. Taylor Hutchins' free throw provided the winning margin. Kylar Frias led Oasis in scoring with 16 points, with Kyle Bethel scoring 14 and Hutchins and Gabe Casey 12 each.

Adidas Holiday Slam at Miami Florida Christian

Florida Christian 46, Mariner 32: The Tritons (7-4) will play in Saturday's third-place game after falling to the tournament host Florida Christian Patriots (10-4) in the semifinals. Brandon Schoener scored eight points for the Tritons, and Jahmel Myers had eight rebounds. Mariner faces Coral Springs Charter at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Smoothie King Classic at Bradenton Christian

Cape Coral 45, Lemon Bay 15: The Seahawks (8-4) took home the third-place trophy in the Smoothie King Classic in Bradenton with a decisive victory against Lemon Bay (6-5).

Smoothie King Tournament at Bradenton Christian

Cape Coral 81, Oasis 54: The Seahawks (8-3) advanced to the final of the Smoothie King Classic in Bradenton. Harwin Francois scored 24 points for Cape, with Jonnathan Moreno scoring 18 (four 3-pointers) and James Gibson 13. Taylon Hutchins paced the Sharks (8-2) with 19 points, five rebounds and three steals. Kyle Frias added 10 points for Oasis.

Cape Coral will seek to defend its title against host Bradenton Christian at 8 p.m., today, while Oasis plays Braden River in the third-place game at 5 p.m.

Sunshine Shootout at Gateway Charter

Jensen Beach 78, North Fort Myers 56: North Fort Myers (3-7) will play Dunbar in the third-place game at 5:30 p.m. today in the Gateway Charter gym.

Barron Collier 87, Island Coast 44: Island Coast faced South Fort Myers at 1:30 p.m. today in the seventh-place game.

Miami Florida Christian tournament

Mariner 60, Fort Lauderdale 57: The Tritons (7-3) had a struggle against a 4-9 Fort Lauderdale team, but held off the Flying L's to advance to the second round of the Adidas Holiday Slam. Dakota Deverteuil led the Tritons with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jahmel Myers scored 11 points, and Nehemiah Darrett and Bryce Rohrbach added 10 each. Mariner faces host school Florida Christian at 8 p.m. today in the semifinals of the Harden Bracket.

Sarasota Booker 47, Cape Coral 43: The Seahawks (7-4) will play Lemon Bay in the third-place game of the Smoothie King Classic at 3 p.m. today.

Boys soccer

Bishop Moore 5, Mariner 3: The Tritons (15-4) were scheduled to play for third place in the tournament against Palmetto (9-4-1) at 11 a.m. today in Tavares. The Mike Stone Invitational, in its 22nd year, is the largest high school soccer tournament in Florida.

Mariner 2, Evans 1: Pedro Reyes and Santiago Guerrero scored to pace the Tritons into the semifinals.
