North Fort Myers rips Island Coast

Taylor Kruse scored three times and added an assist as the Red Knights improved to 6-0-1 on the season, 3-0 in District 3A-13. Emile Hauser also had a hat trick (three goals). Michele Cohen had two goals and an assist, Avie Montoya had a goal and two assists, Amanda DaSilva and Brooke Hawkins a goal and an assist each, and Haley Weaver and Hailey Turner also scored for North Fort Myers. Island Coast fell to 0-6, 0-2. Kruse has 14 goals and seven assists this season, and Hauser has 13 goals and six assists. The Red Knights are home against Fort Myers on Thursday, while Island Coast is home to face Estero.

Girls soccer

Mariner 8, Desoto County 0: Junior Taylor Yount had a hat trick Monday night, the ninth time this season she's scored at least three times in a game. Senior Julissa Chimelis, whose junior season was cut short by injury, scored against the Bulldogs in her 2017-18 debut and was named player of the match. Senior Acelya Aydogomus posted her ninth shutout of the year. Mariner (8-1-1) also got two goals and two assists from senior Aryana Saenz, and solo goals from Taylor Jewett and Amanda Miller. The Tritons are home on Thursday against Barron Collier.

Bishop Verot 3, Cape Coral 0: Nina Gulati scored twice for Bishop Verot, and Nicole Gulati had a goal and an assist. Lander Peck and Lesley Saldana also made assists for Verot. The Vikings improved to 8-2 on the season, while the Seahawks slipped to 6-2-1. Cape Coral plays Tuesday at LaBelle, and Bishop Verot is home Tuesday against Clewiston.

Boys soccer

Ida Baker 2, Dunbar 0: Steven Barker had a goal and an assist, and David Guatarasma also scored as the Bulldogs shut out Dunbar in a non-conference match. Barker's goal came on a penalty kick. The Bulldogs (3-4) got solid play in the midfield from Tony Centelles and Sebastian Guer-rero, while Taylor Jones anchored the defense. Ida Baker's JV won 3-1. Baker plays at East Lee County on Friday.

North Fort Myers 8, Island Coast 0: North (2-10) evened its District 3A-13 record at 1-1, snapping an eight-game skid. The Red Knights play at Fort Myers on Friday. Island Coast (0-6, 0-5) has a week off before traveling to Dunbar on Dec. 11.

Lehigh 100, North Fort Myers 67: Lehigh (2-0), which reached the Class 7A state semifinals last season, rolled past the Red Knights in a non-district game. North (0-4) is home against Cypress Lake on Thursday and Estero on Friday.

Oasis 80, Gateway 60: The Sharks lead District 5A-10 in the early going after Friday's win against Gateway. Oasis (3-0, 2-0) got 27 points and seven assists from junior Taylor Hutchins, a double-double by senior Gabe Casey (17 points, 13 rebounds) and 14 points from junior Kylar Frias. Next up for Oasis is a home game Tuesday against Bishop Verot, 1-0 in the district.

Mariner 72, Golden Gate 54: Jahmel Myers 19 points and Dakota Deverteuil 15 to lead the Tritons (2-0) to the road non-district victory, spoiling Golden Gate's season opener. Mariner is home against Lely on Tuesday.

Bishop Verot 65, Ida Baker 46: The Vikings remained unbeaten (3-0) with a dominating home win against the Bulldogs (1-2) in a non-district contest. Verot travels to Oasis on Tuesday, while Ida Baker is home against Port Charlotte.

Cape Coral 63, Ida Baker 18: Cape improved to 3-1, 2-0 in District 7A-10 with a big win at home. Ida Baker will look for its first win Tuesday at Port Charlotte. The Seahawks play Tuesday at Island Coast.

North Fort Myers 34, Port Charlotte 33: The Red Knights rallied in the fourth quarter to pull out their first victory of the season. Ali Mousa hit a jumper with 1:09 to play for the game-winner. North (1-3, 1-2 District 7A-10) trailed 26-21 after three periods at Port Charlotte. The Pirates remained winless at 0-3, 0-1. North Fort Myers hosts Ida Baker in a district contest Wednesday.

Gateway 46, Oasis 24: Gateway's Griffins are 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in District 5A-10 after the victory. The Sharks are 1-3, 1-1 going to a 5A-10 game Tuesday at Bishop Verot.

Cape Coral 1, Mariner 0: Jacob Jiminez found the back of the net on a free kick Friday night as Cape (7-0-1, 4-0 District 3A-13) got the best of a big-early season match-up with their archrivals. Antonio Garcia had eight saves in posting the shutout in goal. The Tritons (8-1, 2-1)

Ida Baker 5, North Fort Myers 2: Sandin Dizdarevic had two goals and two assists to lead the Bulldogs (2-4) past North Fort Myers (0-7) in a non-district match. Julio Amaral scored twice for Ida Baker, and Cristian Lima also had a goal. Steve Barker had two assists and Sebastian Guerrero also had a helper. Nick Giarruso made seven saves for Baker. The Bulldogs' next match is Tuesday at home against Dunbar, while North Fort Myers is home against Island Coast on Tuesday.

Canterbury 2, Oasis 1: The Sharks fell to 1-3-1 on the year after a road defeat at the hands of a undefeated Canterbury (6-0) squad. Oasis is home against Gateway on Tuesday.

Bishop Verot 1, Fort Myers 1: Michael Whittaker scored the game tying goal for the Vikings (2-3-2).

Mariner 5, Cape Coral 0: Taylor Yount, a junior, scored four goals to lead the Tritons to (7-1-1, 2-0 District 3A-13) past the Seahawks. Yount has 31 goals in the season's first nine matches. Sophomore Victoria Annarumma scored on a goal on a rebound of Michelle Vidal's shot. Senior goalie Acelya Aydogmus recorded her eighth shutout of the young season. Mariner is home against Desoto on Monday. Cape slips to 7-2-1, 3-1 in the district.

North Fort Myers 5, Ida Baker 0: The Red Knights (5-0-1) were led by Taylor Kruse with two goals and an assist, Emilee Hauser with two goals, and Amanda DaSilva with an goal and an assist. Macey Earhart also had an assist. Haley Weaver had the shutout in goal. North is home Monday against Island Coast. Ida Baker is 3-2-2.

Bishop Verot 5, Fort Myers 1: Nina Gulati (three goals and an assist) and Nicole Gulati (two goals, two assists) paced the Vikings to a win against the Green Wave. Lander Peck had an assist. The Vikings improved to 7-2 with the victory.

Canterbury 5, Oasis 3: The Sharks slipped to 5-2 on the season with a non-district defeat at the hands of Canterbury. Jasmine Perez-Acosta, a freshman, assisted on four of the Cougars' five goals.

Ida Baker 71, Cypress Lake 64: The Bulldogs (1-1) won their home opener, erasing a nine-point halftime deficit. Coach Todd Stowe got his first win at Ida Baker. The Bulldogs' Corey Fryar led all scorers with 27 points. Stephen Hawkins scored 18 points and Blake Donnelly added 10 for Baker. Liam Bell scored 21 points for Cypress Lake (1-1), while Josh Sanchez added 16.

Lemon Bay 82, North Fort Myers 55: North fell to 0-3, including 0-2 in District 7A-10. Lemon Bay is 2-0, 1-0 in the district.

Girls basketball

Cape Coral 61, Mariner 23: The Seahawks (3-1) rolled past crosstown rival Mariner at home on Thursday. Naomi Darrett scored 16 points for the Tritons (0-2).

Lemon Bay 52, North Fort Myers 30: The Manta Rays (1-1) picked up their first District 7A-10 victory, dropping the Red Knights to 0-4, 0-3.

Bishop Verot 10, LaBelle 0: Nina Gulati scored five goals and added an assist for the Vikings, while Nicole Gulati had a hat trick (three goals) and an assist. Elizabeth Qwimby had a goal and an assist, Alyhssa Verwoert scored a goal, and Lander Peck made an assist. Bishop Verot improved to 6-2, including 3-0 in District 2A-12.
