Next month's roster of activities at Cape Coral Lee County Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

English Caf

10 a.m., Fridays, Dec. 1, 8, 15

Free, informal conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.

Craft Corner: Knitting and Crocheting

2 p.m., Mondays, Dec. 4, 11, 18

2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 26

A casual self-guided group of knitters and crocheters share ideas, techniques and patterns. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Public Library.

Chess Anyone?

5:30 p.m., Tuesdays, Dec. 5, 12, 19, 26

Rise to the chess challenge and join in the fun. Bring a personal chess set, if desired. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Public Library.

Create a Visual Journal

1 p.m., Wednesdays, Dec. 6, 13, 20

Local artist Linda Benson returns to teach basic art techniques in this four-part series. Participants will produce a visual journal using different textures, designs and artistic techniques with pen and ink. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Public Library. Space is limited to 20 so registration is required.

Musical Magic Carpet Ride

1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7

Emmy and Peabody Award-winning composer, flutist, storyteller and lecturer, Kat Epple, will transport participants to exotic locales with a treasure trove of indigenous flutes that she has collected from extensive world travels.

An Afternoon at the Movies

1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9

An Amazon princess leaves her island home and journeys to the outside world, which is being consumed by a massive war. With the help of an American pilot, she works to put an end to the conflict. Rated PG-13.

Adult Holiday Gift Craft

1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12

Make gift card or candy holders, bookmarks and a note holder for the holidays. Materials supplied. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library. Class size is limited to 12 and registration is required.

Coloring for Grown-ups

11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 15

The repetitive motion involved in coloring has a calming effect and adults have found this childhood activity a refreshing way to release their creativity, relieve stress and meet other participants. Materials provided. Sponsored by Friends of the Cape Coral Public Library.

Storytime

Family Storytime

10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5

Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of prereading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories. First come, first served.

Preschool Storytime

11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5

Your preschooler will continue to build relationships with other kids, books and the library in a storytime designed specifically for them. First come, first served.

Toddler Tales

10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6

This interactive and active time for toddlers and their caregiver is designed to advance prereading and social skills. First come, first served.

Baby Rhyme Time

10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 7

During this special storytime, you and your baby will learn new nursery rhymes and fingerplays, interact with puppets, sing, read books and dance. First come, first served.

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only and applies only to charges on overdue materials. Please bring your library card.
