Zach Polsenberg’s Heat Severity Charity fundraiser Dec.3

November 10, 2017
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Zach Polsenberg's Heat Severity Charity will be holding a fundraising event Sunday, Dec. 3, in honor of Zach Polsenberg who was an offensive lineman for the Riverdale High School Raiders' football team and died from heat stroke on July 10, 2017. The event is being held from 12-8 pm at Caloosahatchee Jack's Bar & Grill at 11491 S. Cleveland Ave in Ft. Myers. This fundraiser will allow the charity's founders the opportunity to make people aware of these dangerous illnesses, how to prevent them and ultimately obtain donations so that the group can provide the athletic communities the supplies they need to prevent deaths from occurring.

James Polsenberg, father to Zach, said, "We are excited for our inaugural fundraiser in honor of Zach. Our goal is grow the awareness of not only our charity, but about heat stroke and other heat illnesses which are 100 percent preventable. With just a few dollars we will be able to provide athletic organizations with tools for cooling."

The event will have several bands playing throughout the day. The bands are Tourniquet (an Evanescence tribute band), Myth, Mark & Angela Chang, Strange Arrangement, Cycle Jones and George Lewis. There will be raffles, silent auctions and food and drink specials from Caloosahatchee Jack's.

About Zach Polsenberg's Heat Severity Charity

Zach Polsenberg's Heat Severity Charity was founded when Zach Polsenberg suffered a heat stroke after football practice on June 29. His core body temperature was 107 degrees and he went into a coma. He fought liver and kidneys failures for 11 days. On July 10 his family removed him from life support and he passed quickly. His parents, Jim and Claudine, do not want other parents to endure this experience. The charity is a 501 3C registered in the State of Florida.
